Tokyo Indie Game Bar UKIYO Soft Opening: Real-Life Buckshot Roulette Experience Available for Reservation

The indie game bar UKIYO GAME BAR & CAFE in Yurakucho, Tokyo, has opened for soft launch. Customers can enjoy coffee or cocktails while playing indie games from around the world and unreleased demos. The venue also features a live-action Buckshot Roulette experience, bringing the game's matches to a physical table.

Operated by Ukiyo Studios, the venue occupies the 3rd and 4th floors of the same building. The 3rd floor features a traditional whiskey bar layout, with table-side demo stations beyond the counter, allowing customers to sit down for a drink and try out unfamiliar titles. The 4th floor serves as an event space for game launches, media previews, and private events, and also hosts the live-action Buckshot Roulette experience.

In-store PCs offer game demos via a dedicated launcher. The store plans to keep some titles on permanent display while introducing limited-time demos and collaborating with publishers on themed events.

The live-action Buckshot Roulette is one of the store's most distinctive attractions. The physical game table retains the original's visual style, equipped with screens and prop shotguns, while staff members wear dealer masks to enhance the performance. Players sit around the table to experience facing off against the dealer as in the original game. Originally created for exhibitions, this setup is now a permanent fixture at the bar and requires advance reservation.

Indie game elements extend to the drinks as well. The bar offers an Arctic Eggs-themed cocktail served with fried egg-shaped gummies on a mini frying pan tray, referencing the game's mechanic of cooking with a frying pan. In addition to alcoholic beverages, customers can also choose coffee and non-alcoholic drinks.

Ukiyo Studios has long provided promotional and exhibition support for game developers, having collaborated with companies such as Devolver Digital and Pocketpair. Through this permanent bar, the team hopes to allow players to continue experiencing partnered games even after exhibitions end.

Currently, the reservation page lists a one-hour package for the 4th-floor gaming space at 2,200 yen per person, including one drink, accepting reservations for groups of two to four. The store is located on the 3rd and 4th floors of 1-3-8 Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, about a 2-minute walk from Exit A4 of Hibiya Station or a 3-minute walk from Exit C1 of Ginza Station.
