Minecraft Update 26.60 is now live, adding the Ice Cave biome, the frostbite mechanic, and new Frostbite enemies, along with over 600 bug fixes and adjustments. This update primarily expands content for cold environments while addressing various stability issues.
Ice Caves generate beneath cold biomes and contain packed ice, calcite, icicles, ice crystals, snow, and minerals. Strays and Frostbites may also appear inside. Ice crystals emit light and can be placed facing different directions; icicles can grow up to five blocks long and deal damage to entities when they fall.
The Frostbite effect reduces jump height, causes shivering, and may inflict damage. Leather armor provides protection but does not prevent the application of the Frostbite effect. Frostbite is a zombie variant found in cold regions that can throw ice balls and apply frostbite through melee attacks; regular zombies and husks may also transform into this enemy after staying in powder snow for a period.
This update also fixes issues related to pistons, redstone, villagers, items, commands, biome generation, visuals, crashes, and stability. The Nintendo Switch 2 version now supports Vibrant Visuals and features improved online stability; Realms free trials are now available to Switch users, with enhanced speed and reliability for world uploads and downloads.
