Blade Runner 2099 Board Game Features Original Story, Crowdfunding Launches Next Year

Lucky Duck Games is developing the Blade Runner 2099 board game, with plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign next year. The game features a different story from the upcoming Amazon Prime series of the same name and is not a direct adaptation of the show's content.

The board game was showcased at Spiel Essen, Germany's major board game convention. The key difference revealed so far is its standalone narrative; however, it remains unclear whether the game will share characters, relationships, or other settings with the series.

The series, created by Silka Luisa, is described as an "undercover cop story" and is scheduled to premiere in November. The Blade Runner IP will thus expand through both film/TV and tabletop gaming around the same time, but sharing the same title does not mean the two share the same content.

Lucky Duck Games has not yet announced specific mechanics, player count, playtime, exact crowdfunding dates, pricing, or delivery timelines for the board game. More information is expected to be released later.
