Multiplayer Co-op Hints? Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Job Posting Reveals Requirements

A job posting from CD Projekt RED suggests that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 may be exploring multiplayer gameplay. Tentatively titled Cyberpunk 2, the project is currently being developed by the company's newly established Boston studio, though its specific mode has yet to be determined.

多人合作再现线索?《赛博朋克2077》续作招聘曝光要求

The listing for the Lead Quest Designer position lists experience with multiplayer network architecture and synchronization of game states and quests between client and server as preferred qualifications. This indicates that the team is at least considering quest design for a multiplayer environment in terms of staffing, but the job description does not prove that such features have been finalized.

The related design may support multiple players sharing the same world state and cooperating on missions; however, existing information does not confirm that the main storyline will be fully playable online, and CD Projekt RED has not announced specific gameplay formats. The series previously planned a standalone multiplayer project similar to GTA Online, which was later canceled to address launch issues with the original game and develop Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

The job page also mentions Unreal Engine, aligning with the project's shift away from the in-house REDengine. Since Cyberpunk 2 is still far from release, multiplayer features could still change or be shelved during subsequent development.
