NetEase Games and Everstone Studio have announced that Where Winds Meet will open the new region "Hutuo" on November 14, 2026. Centered around large-scale warfare, this area depicts a crumbling imperial authority, invasions by northern armies, and the displacement of civilians.
The "Battle of Zhongdu Bridge" serves as a key stage in the Hutuo storyline. Players will find themselves caught between evacuating civilians and invading enemy forces, forced to make choices involving loyalty, justice, and those they must protect. In terms of combat, the "Defense of Hutuo River" event will feature the formidable Khitan general Xiao Han; the open world will also add two World Bosses: Bing Shen from Cangyue Gang and the Khitan shaman Yelu Afuli.
This update will also introduce two board game modes: "Da Ma Qi" and "Jiang Hu Yi." In "Da Ma Qi," players act as pieces themselves, advancing toward the finish line by rolling dice; "Jiang Hu Yi" focuses on character formation, as well as combinations of equipment and abilities.
In late November, the game plans to launch a new martial art style, "Dual Spears," supervised by action director Yuen Woo-ping. Players can switch between Light Spears, which excel at continuous attacks, and Heavy Spears, which focus on breaking enemy stances and counterattacks, using exclusive "Martial Shifts" to transition between the two stances. The global version's first-anniversary event will also take place on November 14, with the team promising the largest in-game rewards since launch; further details on the new region's combat, gameplay, and celebration will be revealed during the anniversary special program on November 3.
