Saber Interactive recently announced a new update for World War Z. This live-service third-person zombie shooter was originally released in 2019. The update, titled "Viral State," will go live on November 12, bringing both paid and free content to this beloved, blood-soaked title.

Keen-eyed players might notice that "Viral State" feels strangely familiar. From the color palette and fonts used in the trailer to the Miami setting, release date, and weather effects shown in the update, every detail bears the imprint of GTA 6.

"Viral State" will launch a full week before GTA 6

The new trailer released by Saber Interactive didn't attract much attention, but it could quickly go viral if more people realize the connection between "Viral State" and GTA 6. This expansion is clearly a homage to GTA 6, which is set to release seven days after "Viral State" arrives in World War Z.

The inspiration behind "Viral State" is obvious. From the scene design and character models to the fonts and color schemes used in marketing materials, Everythinggj evokes GTA 6.

If you compare the screenshots and trailers we've seen of GTA 6 with the content showcased in the "Viral State" update, some scenes are almost exact replicas: neon-lit waterfronts, towering skyscrapers, and an overwhelming array of firearms. In this sense, these elements fit both the style of GTA 6 and the "Viral State" update for World War Z.

Of course, this isn't a bad thing. GTA 6 has the potential to become the biggest and fastest-selling game in history, while World War Z has proven its staying power in the live-service market for over six years, deserving more content and continued development.
