Sony has officially released the compact spatial reproduction display ELF-MN1. Featuring a 6-inch panel, the device allows users to view stereoscopic content such as virtual characters and digital avatars without the need for special glasses or head-mounted displays. The device is scheduled to launch in Japan on December 11, with an estimated market price of approximately 54,000 yen.
ELF-MN1 generates and displays stereoscopic images in real time based on the viewer's position. In addition to the existing eye-tracking sensors, the device incorporates infrared sensors to continuously capture pupil position even in dimly lit environments.
The display section uses a 403 ppi panel, combined with dual-view display technology and techniques to suppress blur and ghosting, enhancing the clarity of small-sized stereoscopic content. The device can be connected to a smartphone or computer via a single USB-C cable, while the transparent acrylic stand helps reduce the visual boundary between the screen and the desk, making it easy to place in limited spaces such as desks or cabinets.
This product can be used to view 3D digital models, display characters from companion apps, and create original content using the SDK. Currently, ELF-MN1 has confirmed support for Gugenka's HoloModels service, allowing users to view 3D models of official anime characters; Sony also plans to collaborate with XR and spatial content creators to continue expanding dedicated content.
ELF-MN1 adopts open pricing in Japan, with an estimated market price of approximately 54,000 yen.
