Sony has officially announced the PS5 Prism series, which will include DualSense wireless controllers in Flame Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray, along with matching PS5 console covers. The series is scheduled for release on February 4, 2027, with pre-orders opening on November 10, 2026.
The Prism series draws inspiration from the transparent gaming hardware popular in the late 1990s. All three controllers feature high-gloss transparent shells, allowing partial visibility of internal components from the back, and incorporate metallic-textured trims in the center to seamlessly integrate the transparent materials with the existing PS5 design. The controllers and console covers can be matched with unified transparent color schemes.
Leo Cardoso, a member of Sony's design team, stated that the team knew players had been eagerly awaiting the return of transparent controllers, so they wanted to reinterpret this classic trend in a more modern way. Design team member Satoshi Aoyagi introduced that the high-gloss transparent finish extends to the back of the controller, with a metallic trim in the center to connect different surfaces and enhance the overall texture.
Each DualSense controller is priced at $84.99, and each console cover set is priced at $74.99. In the United States, pre-orders will be accepted through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers starting at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET on the day pre-orders open.
In regions with PlayStation Direct, console covers will be sold exclusively through that channel; other regions may have limited availability through select retailers. Sony notes that specific release dates, pricing, and availability will vary by region.
