October 28, 2026 — In a collaboration between Shiro Games, developer of Northgard, and Funday Games, developer of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Northgard Arena, a city-building auto-battler set in the Viking world of the classic RTS Northgard (which has sold over 5 million copies), combining classic RTS elements like city-building with auto-battler gameplay, has officially launched Early Access on Steam.
Each turn, you can expand your territory, construct and upgrade buildings, or assign villagers to improve building efficiency and strengthen your warband. Make good use of powerful building adjacency bonuses to maximize your tribe's production efficiency and warriors' combat capabilities, balancing immediate combat advantages with long-term development. Choose from over 100 fate cards to formulate specific strategies, gain powerful blessings, and summon legendary creatures to suppress your opponents.
Fourth Tribe Added: Continuous Updates, Improving the Game with Players
From the July test and Demo to the Early Access launch on October 27, Northgard Arena has continuously optimized the experience based on player feedback. During the Steam Next Fest, the new Wolf Tribe was added to the Demo; Early Access also brings the 4th tribe—the Bear Tribe—further expanding build and tactical options.
The development team will continue to listen to player feedback, gradually improving the game and adding new content, allowing actual player experiences and creative builds to drive the game's development.
Combination of City-Building and Auto-Battler
Your village is not only the starting point for development but also your tactic itself. The choice and placement of each building can influence the battle. Buff buildings can enhance surrounding structures and combat units. Players need to flexibly adjust their layout based on the situation, terrain, and building synergy, gradually forming a tactical system suitable for the current match. There is no fixed optimal answer; how you use your resources to create advantages is the key to victory.
Distinctive Tribes, Diverse Build Strategies
Different tribes possess unique passive skills, combat advantages, and two exclusive buildings, providing varied starting conditions. You can quickly establish an advantage based on tribal characteristics, or combine universal buildings, random spawns, and special terrain to explore more build strategies and create your own tactical system.
Building Layout and Battlefield Formation: Deep Strategic Gameplay
Beyond building combinations, battlefield formations are equally crucial. The farther a building is from the battlefield, the longer it takes for units to arrive. Poor layout can cause backline units to enter before frontline ones, exposing them prematurely to enemy attacks. From building selection and terrain utilization to formation planning and entry timing, every decision can sway the outcome.
Asynchronous PVP: Start Anytime, Pause Anytime
The game combines PVP competition with asynchronous battle mechanics, allowing players to focus on construction and tactical planning without being tied to real-time online matches. Whether researching building combinations, optimizing village layouts, or enjoying a match in your spare time, you can experiment with tactics at your own pace.
Steam Deck Support Now Available
Players can now experience the game anytime, anywhere on Steam Deck, leading their tribe to victory!
Northgard Arena is now available in PC Early Access on Steam, with a standard price of ¥48. Enjoy a 10% launch discount for the first two weeks, bringing the price down to ¥43.2. Players who own Northgard, Backpack Battles, or King's Gaze can enjoy an additional 10% off through the Steam bundle, paying only ¥38.88.
