Rumor: GTA 6 Map Size Equals Sum of GTA 4, GTA 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2

The world of GTA 6 is not only vast but also far more detailed than Rockstar's previous games. This information comes from a preview in the November issue of EDGE magazine, which focuses on the development of GTA 6. Aaron Garbut, co-head of Rockstar North, stated that Leonida, which includes Vice City and its surrounding areas, has a map size nearly equivalent to the combined maps of GTA IV, GTA V, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Rockstar also aims to address a common issue in large open worlds: while the map is huge, many areas feel empty and lack engaging content to explore. Garbut told EDGE that GTA 6 will feature an order of magnitude more indoor spaces than the studio's previous games. This means players will be able to enter buildings and explore their interiors far more often, rather than constantly encountering locked doors.

The development team also places great emphasis on outdoor areas. According to Gabbut, even the alleys are being crafted with care. Players will find details specifically designed by team members almost anywhere they go on the map. These elements aren't just major landmarks; they also include ordinary spots that players might stumble into unintentionally.

While crafting the remote regions of Leonida, Rockstar has also drawn lessons from GTA V. Some northern areas in GTA V, including the Senora Desert, were criticized for lacking interesting activities. This time, the studio hopes that the more desolate and sparsely populated natural areas in GTA 6 will also offer rich content, encouraging players to explore them.

Garbut also mentioned that although the game has been in development for many years, there are still areas he himself hasn't explored. According to Rockstar's vision, players should be able to continuously discover new details, learn about local culture, and find satirical brands, signs, and little stories within the environment.
