Tomb Raider: The Lost Legacy of Atlantis Allows Separate Difficulty Settings for Puzzles and Combat, with Optional Progression and Crafting

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will allow players to adjust puzzle and combat difficulty separately, while the new character progression and crafting systems are entirely optional. Players can choose between the classic experience and new mechanics based on their preferred playstyle.

Jeff Adams, Game Experience Director at Crystal Dynamics, stated that players who prefer the puzzle-solving, solitude, and cautious exploration style of early Tomb Raider titles can increase puzzle difficulty and reduce combat pressure. Meanwhile, those who joined the series during the "Survivor" era and prioritize combat can adjust settings in the opposite direction to enhance combat challenges.

If players simply want Lara to dual-wield pistols for shooting and puzzle-solving, they can ignore the character progression and crafting systems. By engaging with these new mechanics, however, players can enhance Lara's combat abilities, access additional weapons, and use a scanner to obtain puzzle hints. The team aims to allow classic gameplay and reboot-era systems to coexist within the same title.

Based on the 1996 original, this title will not only feature improved graphics but also redesigned gameplay mechanics. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC on February 12, 2027.
