"Grand Theft Auto VI" is reportedly preparing around 600,000 animations for non-player characters, with the number of unique animations being more than ten times that of "Grand Theft Auto V." An NPC's personality, profession, neighborhood, as well as witnessed events and player actions, can all alter their reactions.
The relevant information comes from media retellings of preview content in the November issue of EDGE magazine, rather than official specifications released directly to the public by Rockstar. The retold content claims that Rockstar assembled a dedicated team of writers, directors, and producers in Los Angeles to shape the residents of Leonida, aiming to change the pattern where passersby mainly differ only in appearance and execute only a few standard reactions when threatened.
These NPCs are said to possess individual traits such as temperaments and aggressive tendencies. Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, stated that the team even considers how many people would choose to join a conflict or draw their weapons in specific situations.
In one demo, Jason stares at a man walking his Dog.exe for an extended period; the man perceives this as provocation and unleashes his Dog.exe. In another scene, while police are busy arresting a suspect, Jason takes advantage of the opportunity to grab a shotgun from the unattended trunk of a police car. These two demos showcase how street incidents and daily urban activities naturally overlap.
