Last week, EA conducted major layoffs and shut down BioWare, a studio once renowned in the industry. This move sparked mixed reactions, with some understanding the closure while many others expressed anger. However, developers who remain at EA are facing difficult times.
A new report reveals that following layoffs, EA employees are voicing complaints about low morale, while management is pressuring them to familiarize themselves with generative AI platforms like Claude. Employees complain that the company is gradually declining, with executives focused solely on chasing profits.
Foreign media outlet Vertical Slice interviewed several EA developers to reveal the company's current situation. Reports indicate that internal morale is extremely poor, with many employees just biding their time and planning to leave EA if conditions do not improve.
One employee stated, "Morale is at an all-time low. We keep hearing the slogan 'Do less, do better,' but the reality is fewer staff and no reduction in workload."
Senior management is extremely enthusiastic about the prospects of Claude and generative AI. An employee remarked, "I hear every manager conveying the same message: this is the future, and you must keep up."
EA has not yet issued any official mandate requiring the use of AI, but in practice, employees are being pressured to master AI tools such as Claude.
