Kojima Productions has released the trailer and initial detailed settings for the animated series "Death Stranding: Isolation." Set in the same world as the game "Death Stranding," it will not retell the game's main storyline but instead present an independent new story in traditional hand-drawn 2D animation, scheduled to air on Disney+ and other Disney services in 2027.
The story takes place after Sam reconnects North America via the Chiral Network. The United States begins to reunite, but this connection brings unforeseen consequences. The central character is a young girl who was forced into isolation by the "Death Stranding" catastrophe and later chose to cut off contact with the outside world; an accidental encounter draws her into an unfamiliar world.
Other key characters include an elderly man who connects people in inexplicable ways, a female soldier trapped in a cycle of war and destruction, and a young boy enraged by the absurdity of life. They have chosen paths different from those of Sam and the members of Bridges. The trailer footage showcases a desolate world dotted with massive craters, as well as a sleeping girl wearing goggles marked with the word "SLEEP."
E&H Production handles the animation production, with Takayuki Sano as director, Tow Ubukata responsible for series composition and scriptwriting, Ilya Kuvshinov handling original character design, and Hideo Kojima serving as executive producer. Announced in 2025, the project further confirms it will explore the "cost of reconnection," expanding the world and perspectives of "Death Stranding."
