Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Main Story Takes Around 50 Hours, Map Size Exceeds Previous Entry

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will conclude the trilogy reimagining the 1997 classic. Director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that the main story length is roughly comparable to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which can be referenced at around 50 hours; exploring all content will take even longer.

Naoki Hamaguchi mentioned that during testing, checking every corner of the map easily resulted in playtimes exceeding 100 hours. For comparison, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's main story averages around 50 hours, combining main and side quests takes about 91 hours, and completing Everythinggj approaches 160 hours; these figures are for reference only and do not represent the final statistics for the new title.

The new title will integrate complete maps from previous entries, add previously unannounced areas, and allow players to return to regions from the first two games. Naoki Hamaguchi stated that its scale and breadth will surpass Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, with exploration content further utilizing vertical spaces, labyrinthine scenes, new cities, and large-scale challenges such as "Weapons."

Midgar will once again be accessible, allowing players to enter through gaps in the outer walls. The city's appearance will reflect the visual and social changes resulting from previous events. The piano minigame will be adjusted to support more instruments, while new narrative content centered on Tifa's past will be added.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is scheduled to launch simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 on April 8, with subsequent story DLC already planned.
