Queen's Domain: Four-Hour Foreign Media Preview - Wind Blade Dash Transforms Sluggish Exploration Pace!

The approximately four-hour demo of Queen's Domain showcases a shift in exploration from slow trudging to aerial dashes. Early on, the game employs old-school first-person combat reminiscent of King's Field, where attacks require charging and consume the entire stamina bar, with no high-speed rolling to quicken the pace.

After defeating a giant skeleton guard, players can obtain the Wind Blade. Its air dash not only speeds up movement but also allows access to previously unreachable areas. Later-acquired embedded gems extend the dash distance, turning offshore islands, castle battlements, and corners that once seemed like background decoration into explorable locations.

Wind Blades are well-suited for the quick-slot bar, but they won't replace the roughly 50 other weapons available. Different enemies have their own damage resistances, while weapons like spears and clubs feature unique special moves and level up with use. The map is connected by save crystals; resting at a crystal respawns enemies, who also reappear in different combinations as you progress.

The archipelago, composed of mossy arches, broken stone pillars, and tombs, evokes memories of Shadow of the Colossus and Vagrant Story, presenting a distinct PS2-era aesthetic that runs smoothly even on integrated graphics. Demo players noted that newcomers might feel overwhelmed and frustrated, and even veterans of similar titles will die frequently, but the grand landscapes and steadily improving mobility keep exploration going. This experience did not cover the full game and is not a final review.
