Konami Digital Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive have released update 1.6.0 for Screen Burn's psychological horror game Silent Hill: Townfall. This update adds a "Hard" difficulty and rebalances the progression between difficulty levels, as well as adjusting resource quantities in certain stages.
According to the developers, "Hard" mode places greater emphasis on stealth, patience, and careful resource management. The previous version 1.4.0 had adjusted the balance of "Waiters" and other creatures, leading some players to feel the challenge was insufficient. The new update limits the reduction in "Waiter" attack damage to "Story Mode," aiming to balance accessibility at lower difficulties with challenge at higher ones.
Convenience features have also been adjusted. Player positions are now displayed on the map across all difficulties, a warning appears when players first select "Nightmare" difficulty, and difficulty descriptions for each mode now more clearly outline the differences. Puzzle hints, item text, and control customization options have also been modified, and the light colors indicating valve states have been adjusted to improve visibility for colorblind players.
The PC version also adds a DLSS Ray Reconstruction option. As of October 29, the game has 3,946 reviews on Steam, with a 68% positive rating, resulting in an overall status of "Mixed." Much of the criticism focused on difficulty designs that were seen as stressful or unreasonable, prompting this update to address related balance issues.
