Pearl Abyss has launched the first expansion for Crimson Desert: Enhanced Edition, "Journey into the Unknown," adding new gameplay features such as sailing, diving, building, social interactions, and management. The expansion is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Mac, and the Epic Games Store.
The new storyline picks up after the defense of Paivel. Following intense battles, Cliff, Onka, and Damiana each embark on their own journeys to find their paths in life. The scope of exploration expands from land to the seas and ocean depths, allowing players to build ships, travel to new islands, and dive underwater to discover hidden treasures, ancient ruins, and other secrets.
The housing system has been enhanced in the expansion. Players can adjust the positions of structural elements like walls and windows, customize interior layouts, and arrange decorations. After liberating specific fortresses, castle courtyards and interior spaces can also be renovated, becoming the player's personal base.
The three characters can also build relationships with local residents, developing romantic connections and even getting married after earning their trust. Players can also lease and manage various facilities in liberated fortresses to accumulate wealth. With these systems added, Paivel further evolves into an open world that balances exploration, lifestyle, and management.
