Arm Neural Network Technology Implementation: Unity China's Tuanjie Engine Natively Integrates NSS, "Light and Shadow Reborn" Available for Download

Summary: Unity China's Tuanjie Engine 1.11.0 natively integrates Neural Super Sampling (NSS) technology, embedding Arm neural network technology directly into the mobile game development workflow. Meanwhile, "Light Reborn" is now available for download, bringing advanced neural graphics experiences to mobile gamers.

Arm® neural network technology is accelerating from technical innovation to practical application. Unity China's Tuanjie Engine 1.11.0 now natively integrates Arm Neural Super Sampling (NSS) technology, embedding neural network technology directly into the mobile game development workflow. This allows Tuanjie Engine developers to seamlessly leverage this technology for actual content development and experience creation. Meanwhile, this technology is also benefiting players. "Light Reborn," developed jointly by Arm and Sumo, is now available for download and can be played on the latest mobile devices equipped with Arm Mali™ G2-Ultra NX GPUs, allowing players to personally experience the new mobile gaming experiences brought by neural network technology.

James McNiven, VP of Edge AI and Smart Terminal Computing at Arm, stated: "Mobile gaming is entering a new era, offering players richer, more cinematic experiences. However, achieving such experiences within the limited power, thermal, and performance constraints of handheld devices remains a major challenge for mobile graphics technology. Neural network technology is expanding the possibilities of mobile graphics by using AI-based techniques to reduce traditional rendering workloads and free up more graphics performance, allowing developers to allocate more performance budget to lighting, shadows, dynamic effects, and creating more cinematic environments."

Empowering mobile game developers with native AI capabilities to unlock greater innovation space

Neural network technology is accelerating its integration into the mobile gaming ecosystem. With integration and support from game engines and studios, these capabilities are being further incorporated into mobile game development workflows, making it easier for developers to apply neural network technology in actual game development.

Regarding game engines, Unity China has completed the integration of Arm neural network technology into the Tuanjie Engine, with its recently released Tuanjie Engine 1.11.0 natively integrating NSS technology. The Tuanjie Engine currently has over 1.9 million cumulative downloads, boasting a broad developer base and application scale. The native integration of NSS will further lower the barrier to entry for developers, enabling them to apply neural network technology within familiar development workflows and explore more innovative game design experiences. Additionally, through the Arm Neural Graphics Development Kit, Arm provides corresponding support for Unreal Engine and Vulkan-based custom game engines.

Zhang Junbo, CEO of Unity China, stated: "Tuanjie Engine 1.11.0 natively integrates NSS technology, providing a new path for better balancing image quality and performance in mobile games through low-resolution rendering and AI image reconstruction. Developers can configure and use it directly within the engine, allocating GPU budgets more flexibly and dedicating more performance headroom to polishing and innovating game experiences. We look forward to continuing our deepened cooperation with Arm to promote the further implementation and application of neural network technology in mobile games."

In terms of game studios, Arm is collaborating with Papergames' "Infinity Nikki" team and Sumo to validate neural network technology in actual production pipelines. Meanwhile, Tencent Games' Public Technology Line MagicDawn team is integrating Arm neural network technology into its AI-driven cross-engine lighting solution, demonstrating technical capabilities through real game content. NetEase Games' "Where Winds Meet" is also actively promoting the further application of Arm neural network technology in games.

Bringing desktop-level visual experiences to mobile devices

"Light Reborn," developed jointly by Arm and Sumo, is a cinematic sci-fi adventure game that takes players deep into a vast underground world to uncover the story behind a collapsing civilization. As the first game to showcase Arm neural network technology and Unreal Engine MegaLights, "Light Reborn" integrates cinematic lighting, ray tracing, and neural graphics technology into a complete mobile gaming experience.

"Light Reborn" is now available to experience on five newly released mobile devices:

· OPPO Find X10 Pro Max, vivo X500 Pro, and vivo X500 Pro Max smartphones, all three devices powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chip featuring integrated Arm Mali G2-Ultra NX.

· Xiaomi 18 Fold smartphone and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, both powered by the Xiaomi Xuanjie O3 chip featuring integrated Arm Mali G2-Ultra NX.

These mobile devices provide the hardware foundation for the application of Arm neural network technology, while "Light Reborn" intuitively demonstrates how these technical capabilities can further enhance the mobile gaming experience. By integrating dedicated neural network acceleration capabilities directly into the GPU and graphics pipeline, the Mali G2-Ultra NX can utilize NSS to achieve higher resolution visual effects, deliver smoother gameplay through Neural Frame Rate Upscaling (NFRU), and present cleaner ray-traced images through denoising technology in Neural Super Sampling and Denoising (NSSD), all while respecting the power constraints of mobile devices.

OPPO stated: "As OPPO's latest flagship generation, the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max achieves new breakthroughs in performance, energy efficiency, and visual experience. The Arm Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU and its integrated Arm neural network technology provide strong support for more advanced mobile graphics experiences, helping OPPO present richer light and shadow effects, more detailed game visuals, and smoother gameplay on mobile devices, allowing players to further feel the immersion and expressiveness of mobile gaming."

vivo stated: "vivo always focuses on users' growing demand for high-quality visual experiences and continuously explores more possibilities in mobile imaging, video, and gaming experiences. By combining Arm's latest computing and graphics technologies with vivo's terminal optimization capabilities, the vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max further enhance visual performance on mobile devices, bringing players richer and more immersive gaming experiences. 'Light Reborn' is a direct manifestation of this innovation in mobile gaming scenarios, showcasing the application potential of advanced graphics technology on mobile devices."
