Independent team Studio Kerosene has launched the Early Access version of the action FPS "FIRESTARTERS" on Steam. Currently, the game offers the first chapter out of the planned four, with the remaining chapters to be added gradually during the Early Access period.
Players take on the role of Kaira, a former delinquent girl. She becomes a new warrior in "STEEL," a globally popular bloody live-streaming show controlled by a criminal syndicate, fighting for her new companions' freedom and to atone for her past sins.
The gameplay revolves around aggressive offense and high-speed movement. There are no health recovery items or directly pickable ammo supplies in the stages; players must defeat androids and scavenge survival resources from their corpses. Kaira is equipped with an upgradable STEEL combat suit, custom rocket roller skates, and arena firearms.
Lead designer Alex Harte stated that the high-speed movement mechanics force players to continuously hunt down targets. Since the combat is also a live broadcast show, players cannot simply aim to clear the stage; they need to increase their combat speed and spectacle to achieve higher scores.
