Falcom has released a free demo of "Kyoto Labyrinth" in Japan and Asia for PS5, Switch, and PC. The demo includes the full prologue and Chapter 1, with progress carrying over to the full version, though demo saves are not compatible with the full version's DLC.
There is no separate Switch 2 demo. The Switch 2 version consists of the Switch game plus an upgrade pack, allowing players to run the Switch demo on Switch 2 via backward compatibility. Steam offers a globally available PC demo, though it currently does not support English.
"Kyoto Labyrinth" is set in a modern world where Kyoto has become Japan's capital. Protagonist Rei Kamiya enters Heisaka Academy, a school dedicated to conquering the otherworldly labyrinths known as "Labyrinths." The game combines 2D action exploration with 3D action combat, featuring melee attacks, shooting, elemental puzzles, power-enhancing "Soul Acceleration," and the "Flash" mechanic triggered by precise blocking.
The school life portion features deck-building classes, companion relationship building, and city exploration. The full version is currently available in Japan and Asia, with a Western release date yet to be announced.
