Independent development team Kongoto announced the PC game "Horror Mahjong" on October 29, along with its Steam store page. Set in a teahouse plagued by strange phenomena, the game combines traditional mahjong gameplay with survival horror combat, supporting both single-player and up to 4-player co-op.
During the game, players still draw, discard, pong, and kong tiles with the goal of completing a winning hand. However, zombies and ghosts will launch attacks from the surroundings, forcing players to use weapons like firearms and peach wood swords to eliminate threats while continuing to play under combat pressure.
Players can purchase supplies between rounds, including wooden puppets that can act autonomously to attack enemies. Players who complete a winning hand can leave their seats to support teammates still playing or revive fallen companions. The entire team must cover each other, survive the night in the teahouse, and escape together at dawn.
In single-player mode, players will spend the night with paper doll opponents. The PC version is scheduled for release in Q4 2026.
