The Game Bakers has announced that the first DLC for Lone Shadow, Traces of the Past: Deep Water, is now available for free on PC and PS5. The new content adds three types of climbing environments, and a accompanying free update introduces a free-roam mode for the Divine Mountain.
Traces of the Past: Deep Water is set before the main story. Players follow Aiva and Marco as they tackle key routes designed by legendary climber Otto Mondo. These routes were originally intended to test those preparing to climb the Divine Mountain, allowing players to learn about Otto's experiences as they ascend the same rock faces he once conquered.
The DLC features densely packed, high-difficulty indoor climbing gyms, towering sea stacks rising from the ocean, and treacherous islands. Players must continue to plan their routes while managing pitons and other resources.
With the free update, players can use the free-roam mode to revisit any previously reached camps for further exploration, and even attempt climbs as Marco. The developers have also launched the biggest discount since the game's release, offering it at 30% off for a limited time.
Lone Shadow was also nominated for two Golden Joystick Awards: Best Indie Game and Best Game Trailer.
