FromSoftware has announced that server services for Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III have been suspended on all platforms due to a game server malfunction. The restoration time has not yet been determined, and the official team will provide further notice once it is confirmed.
This suspension does not affect just a single console or PC version; online servers for both games have been stopped across all platforms. Online activities that rely on servers, such as multiplayer, summoning, and invasions, are therefore temporarily unavailable.
The developers have not yet disclosed the specific nature of the glitch, its detailed scope of impact, or its cause, nor have they provided an estimated time for resolution. At this stage, it can only be confirmed that there is a server failure and a service suspension across all platforms; this cannot be taken as evidence that the issue is due to a vulnerability or an attack.
In January 2022, the PC servers for the series were temporarily shut down to investigate security vulnerabilities, affecting Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls II, and Dark Souls III. Subsequently, online services for the PC version of Dark Souls III were restored in August of the same year, while the DX11 version of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin resumed online services in October. However, the officials have not confirmed whether the current outage is related to the security issues from that time.
