The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remaster for Switch 2 launched on November 5. A Nintendo pop-up store inside an Argos location in London offered limited-edition gift sets to players who purchased the game during the midnight launch, but just hours after the event began, these free giveaways appeared on eBay, with asking prices reaching as high as $968.
This launch giveaway includes a replica of the original Nintendo 64 game case and an ocarina keychain. In addition to the bundle listed at $968, another is asking $807, while the lowest price spotted so far is $260. As of the time of writing, none of these bundles have shown any completed sales.
For reference, The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console is priced at $599 at Walmart. By this calculation, the most expensive resale bundle's asking price clearly exceeds that of the commemorative console.
Nintendo previously apologized to players for severely underestimating demand for The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary products, with special edition consoles and accessories selling out in many regions worldwide. The items currently being resold at high prices are scarce launch giveaways, not officially repriced products; as of now, these sellers' asking prices have not resulted in actual sales.
