The "Mongolian Liaoyuan" update for "Legend of Shimori" expands the existing map, opening up the snowy mountains and deserts that were previously only visible from afar. These two areas not only add new landscapes but also impose new preparation requirements on characters and mounts due to the severe cold and intense heat.
The snowy mountain terrain is cold and difficult to climb, and players will also encounter wolves; the high temperatures in the desert affect both characters and mounts. Both areas feature their own waystations, Yam resource nodes, named locations, treasure chests, and bandit hideouts. The original author compared this exploration barrier created by extreme temperatures to the environmental challenges in "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," but this is not an explanation from the development team regarding the source of gameplay inspiration.
This update also expands the local ecosystem by adding wild animals such as wild boars, Gobi bears, and camels. The new Marwari horse breed possesses strong stamina and heat resistance, making it more suitable for long-distance travel in the harsh desert conditions.
The game also adds over 60 new horse skills, which are distributed across specific regions and associated with particular breeds. The version includes other adjustments, content additions, and bug fixes. The currently added snowy mountain and desert content is only the first part of the update, with further expansions to these two types of areas planned for the future.
