Toy Story 3 Native Port to Modern Platforms with PS5 Support for 4K at 60 FPS

Toy Story 3 will be restored using the original source code and natively ported to modern platforms. The new version will unify content that previously varied across platforms, with the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions targeting 4K resolution at 60 FPS.

Chris Kohler, Editorial Director at Digital Eclipse, explained that the various versions released in 2010 did not include all content. This time, the team used the "next-gen" console version from back then as a base, unifying playable character Zurg and four additional theme packs across all platforms.

The gameplay remains identical to the 2010 original, with both Story Mode and Toy Box Mode continuing to support local two-player co-op. Visual elements such as textures, lighting, shadows, and character models have not been remastered. The most notable new feature is the subtitle system, which improves accessibility and allows the game to support more languages.

In terms of performance, the Switch 2, PS4, and Xbox One X target 1080p at 60 FPS, while the Xbox One S and standard Xbox One target 1080p at 30 FPS. The original Switch runs at 900p/30 FPS in docked mode and 640p/30 FPS in handheld mode. Therefore, this "Definitive Edition" primarily focuses on content unification, native adaptation for modern platforms, and expanded subtitle support, rather than a comprehensive HD remaster of gameplay and art assets.
