After the November 6 update added Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean language support to the Steam version of NieR:Automata, an anomaly appeared in the installation interface, indicating that 366.56GB of free space was required. The developers have acknowledged this issue and are investigating the cause and working on a fix.
366.56GB is more than seven times the 50GB listed in the Steam store's system requirements. Some posts speculate that the update may have counted the approximately 40GB base game files repeatedly across eight DLCs, resulting in a total close to 366GB, but this cause has not been officially confirmed.
An actual installation test showed that Steam downloaded 25.5GB of data, and after installation, the properties page displayed a disk usage of 40.7GB. At least in this test environment, the game did not actually occupy 366GB, so the abnormal prompt should not be taken as the actual disk space required after normal installation.
Until the fix is complete, players can go to the DLC page in their Steam game properties and disable DLC downloads to download the base game first. The current issue mainly affects installation size prompts and DLC downloads; the specific triggers and official resolution are still pending confirmation.
