GTA 6 Uncompressed Data May Exceed 400GB, Pre-load Up to 212GB

Data miner Tex2 estimates that GTA 6's uncompressed data could exceed 400GB without Rockstar Games' internal optimization solutions. However, this figure refers only to the theoretical volume of raw graphics, spatial, and audio assets, not the actual download or storage space required by players.

《GTA6》未压缩数据或超400GB 预载最高212GB

Rockstar Games mainly controls installation size through file compression within its proprietary RPF format and more efficient audio encoding. According to relevant estimates, without these technical measures, the game's size could be twice its current level. The 400GB figure is neither an officially announced installation requirement nor a confirmed final build size.

The official data currently available to players indicates that the pre-load size for GTA 6 varies by target platform, with a maximum of 212GB. Pre-loading will begin on November 10, with the Xbox Series X|S version in Europe opening for download at 1:00 AM CET, and the PlayStation 5 version becoming available at midnight local time.

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on November 19, 2026. Players planning to play at launch should allocate up to 212GB of storage space for the pre-load, while the estimate exceeding 400GB primarily serves to illustrate the impact of compression and resource management technologies on the game's file size.
