Nintendo Plans to Continue Releasing Films After The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Movie

Nintendo plans to continue releasing films with partners after the premiere of the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, establishing a framework to support ongoing production. President Shuntaro Furukawa has clearly stated that the company's film initiatives will not stop with just this one title.

The live-action The Legend of Zelda movie is scheduled for release on April 30, 2027. Nintendo hopes to continue advancing its film projects in the coming years while carefully polishing each installment, aiming to gradually establish a sustainable system for film production.

Shuntaro Furukawa also stated that the global box office total for the animated Mario movie has exceeded $2 billion. Nintendo believes that films can help introduce Mario to people who do not frequently play games and reach audiences in regions where the impact of its dedicated gaming platform business is relatively limited.

Currently, Nintendo has not officially announced another Mario movie. Rumors suggesting that there may be more than one live-action The Legend of Zelda film remain unconfirmed. What is certain at this stage is that Nintendo has clearly stated its long-term direction to continue producing films and expand the reach of its characters and franchises, with specific adaptation projects and partners to be announced later.
