Nintendo announced the performance of key software titles for the first two quarters of the fiscal year. Pre-orders for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time are showing strong momentum, while cumulative sales for Tomodachi Life: Dream Life have exceeded 8.8 million copies.
President Shuntaro Furukawa expressed expectations for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to succeed in global markets and further drive platform performance during the 2026 year-end holiday season.
Tomodachi Life: Dream Life launched in April and surpassed the cumulative sales of its predecessor within about six months. Nintendo believes that introducing new gameplay mechanics to long-standing franchises can reach more players, attract those who rarely play games, and thereby drive platform and hardware sales.
Nintendo also stated that major first-party new releases can significantly boost software sales within a single fiscal year, while long-selling older titles and third-party products continue to support the business. Before the Switch 2 price adjustment, demand in the Japanese market rose temporarily, with sales stabilizing after the new prices took effect; differences before and after the price change were not significant in Europe and the United States, and overseas markets overall maintained strong momentum. The company plans to continue sustaining hardware sales by steadily releasing new titles throughout the year.
