Capcom has responded again to the incident involving unauthorized access to CAPCOM ID and the leakage of customer information. The company stated that necessary emergency measures have been completed, related services remain accessible, and there are no issues preventing players from enjoying its games. Based on currently available information, the company believes the impact on its business performance will be limited.
In the Q&A summary of its financial results briefing for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, Capcom apologized to customers and stakeholders. The company did not disclose the specific costs associated with handling the incident, stating that it will continue to monitor CAPCOM ID and related services while strengthening security measures.
Capcom previously disclosed on October 22 that approximately 11.77 million email addresses and other information had been leaked globally, and that passwords for 196 accounts had been illegally changed. A follow-up announcement on October 23 revealed 19 additional cases in Japan involving names, addresses, and purchase records from e-commerce services, clarifying that credit card information was not included in the leak.
The statement that the "impact on performance is limited" reflects only Capcom's current financial assessment and does not mean that subsequent investigations, monitoring, and security enhancements have concluded. The ability to use services normally is a separate issue from personal data risks; affected users should still follow Capcom's notifications regarding password and account security.
