Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced three long-term investment priorities for the company, covering game development capabilities, entertainment assets beyond games, and consumer relationships. The company will expand its production foundation and continue developing film content and services centered around the Nintendo Account.
In terms of game development, Nintendo plans to improve development facilities, expand team capacity, bring more companies into its subsidiary system, and build a new technology development center to provide technical support for future projects.
Beyond its gaming business, Nintendo aims to continue expanding merchandise, mobile apps, offline experiences, theme parks, and film content around its own characters and IP, while establishing a structure capable of producing films and other audiovisual works over the long term. In terms of consumer services, the company will expand digital business coverage in different regions and increase the number of directly operated physical stores.
Nintendo will also strengthen its regional structure through subsidiaries in Singapore and Thailand, and expand activities in Indonesia. After launching related services in Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia, the company plans to further bring the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online to the Philippines.
Shuntaro Furukawa stated that a stable base of cash and deposits helps the company cope with longer development cycles, console generation transitions, and situations where innovative attempts fall short of expectations, allowing continued long-term investment in product quality. Currently, these remain part of the investment policy and construction plans, with no specific budgets, completion timelines, or lists of new titles announced yet.
