Nintendo disclosed that Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 have a combined total of approximately 129 million annual active players, defined as users who play at least once within a year. Despite the launch of Switch 2, this metric remains above 100 million, and the company currently has no plans to raise prices again.
Nintendo believes that maintaining the ongoing engagement of existing players is just as important as expanding the hardware install base. The mobile business also serves as a key entry point for reaching global users, with its mobile games and apps available in 164 countries and regions, accumulating over 980 million downloads, thereby reaching audiences that are harder to access through traditional console business.
Regarding costs, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa stated that the impact of rising prices for memory and other components may become more pronounced in the next fiscal year. Procurement is currently proceeding as planned, and the company has taken measures to ensure the supply needed to meet this fiscal year's sales targets.
Nintendo plans to wait until the upcoming year-end sales season concludes before evaluating the impact of the recent price adjustment based on actual sales figures. Therefore, this statement only indicates that there are no current plans for another price increase, rather than serving as a long-term price commitment; component market trends, supply conditions, and sales performance may still influence future decisions.
