Deep Silver and KING Art Games have confirmed that the "Last Stand" mode will return in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV. This mode supports three-player co-op, with each player controlling a commander to jointly defend against 20 increasingly difficult waves of enemies.
The developers also released a roughly 30-minute battlefield report video showcasing the gameplay loop centered on survival, upgrades, and replayability. Each commander can reach up to level 30 in a single run, unlocking dozens of skills and equipment to continuously boost the team's combat power.
The title also introduces a Retinue Squad system for this mode, allowing each commander to lead up to four specialized units. Players must collect limited health supplies between waves and make strategic choices regarding movement speed, survivability, and control of key areas.
The game will launch with five commanders covering all four factions, including the Blood Ravens and Dark Angels Space Marine chapters. Additional commanders are planned to be added post-launch via free DLC.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is scheduled for release on December 3, 2026.
