Player Processes Fallout: New Vegas with DLSS 5 Seven Times in a Row! Character Models Severely Distorted

Recently, some players have been repeatedly applying NVIDIA DLSS 5 to gameplay footage from Fallout: New Vegas. As the number of processing iterations increased, the technology originally intended to enhance visual quality began to cause severe distortion, ultimately generating rather eerie characters and scenes.

Several related videos have recently been uploaded to YouTube, showcasing the effects of DLSS 5 neural rendering on this 2010 title. While the technology can reprocess lighting and textures in the footage, applying it consecutively does not necessarily yield better results.

One video selected the Goodsprings area from Fallout: New Vegas and processed the footage three times. While the scene showed noticeable changes at this stage, the effect remained relatively mild compared to the more extensive processing done by other players.

In another test, character Cass's image was processed through seven consecutive rounds. Repeated rendering continuously amplified and reconstructed visual details from the previous round, ultimately causing severe distortion to the character's appearance, nearly erasing her original facial features.

Some players have described these distorted visuals as a psychedelic nightmare. Since the Fallout series already features radiation-induced mutations, these warped images, though not part of the original game, unexpectedly echo its absurd and eerie wasteland atmosphere.
