Nox, the action RPG released by EA in 2000, recently received a new update. While improving its compatibility with modern systems, GOG has also reduced the game's price to $1.39.
This update stems from Nox being added to GOG's Preservation Program. The program aims to maintain classic PC games so they can continue to run on modern computers, avoiding compatibility issues caused by system updates.
In addition to improving compatibility with modern systems, this update also fixes a number of long-standing bugs and technical issues. It has been 26 years since the game's initial release.
Developed by Westwood Studios and published by EA, Nox is an action RPG that adopts a gameplay framework similar to Diablo and features multiplayer modes. Westwood Studios, also known for the Command & Conquer series, shut down in 2003.
The game received a Metacritic score of 81 at the time, but its market performance was insufficient to sustain the series, leading to the cancellation of a sequel. Since then, Nox has gradually become a cult classic.
Nox is not currently available on Steam; players can purchase it on GOG. The single-player campaign takes approximately 15 to 30 hours, depending on how much side content is played, while completing all content may take around 40 hours.
