This May, Google unveiled its new generation of laptops, replacing the traditional Chromebook brand with "Googlebook." The new products are powered by Gemini AI and combine the strengths of the Android ecosystem with ChromeOS. Google will collaborate with five major manufacturers—Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo—to create Googlebooks in various forms and sizes, all featuring an ambient light strip called the "Glowbar." According to Google's announced plans, Googlebooks will be released this fall.
According to Wccftech, Mac Observer has obtained official images of the Googlebook 15 and acquired its specifications, indicating that this laptop will be available soon. Its model number is "Lenovo GB 15IPH12," equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor manufactured using Intel's 18A process. It features 8 cores and 8 threads (4P + 4LP configuration), 12MB of L3 cache, and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.5GHz. It integrates Xe3 architecture integrated graphics supporting XeSS 3 technology, and includes a new AIBoost NPU that works in tandem with the CPU and GPU to deliver up to 47 TOPS of total AI computing power. It comes with 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, and offers optional storage capacities of 256GB or 512GB.
The display is perhaps one of the biggest selling points of the Googlebook 15. It features a 15.3-inch OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 2880 x 1800, a refresh rate of 120Hz, peak brightness of up to 500 nits, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, making it significantly superior to traditional Chromebook screens. The chassis also includes dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, along with USB-A, HDMI 2.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and houses a 70Wh battery. Despite the large screen, it weighs only 1.29kg.
The Googlebook 15 also supports numerous features, including Gemini Intelligence, Android phone synchronization, fingerprint authentication, and Google Face Unlock.
