This announcement was made at the end of streamer Tubbo's broadcast, following the Blue Creeper Battle event. The duration of the livestream has not yet been disclosed.
The Blue Creeper Battle promotional event launched on September 17, 2026, held offline at the Tokyo Game Show and online via YouTube and in-game Bedrock Edition worlds. In the storyline, the Illager Council opened a rift from Sift to the real world—Sift being a new dimension set to appear in Minecraft Dungeons 2. Corrupted mobs poured through the rift, including a giant Blue Creeper. To celebrate the event, one million redemption codes for the Corrupted Creeper Cape were distributed to participants and Twitch livestream viewers.
After players defeated the Blue Creeper, a short cinematic played thanking participants and hinting that the Illagers had found a portal to Sift. Since Sift has been confirmed to appear in Minecraft Dungeons 2, many speculate that this dimension might also come to the base version of Minecraft. If true, this would mark Mojang's first addition of a new dimension since the End was added in 2011, potentially making this update the largest in 15 years.
The livestream teaser also featured the phrase "The next chapter for Minecraft," further raising community expectations.
