Mod author Keff0 has restored a cut boss fight from Resident Evil 4 Remake's "Separate Ways" DLC and made it playable. This battle was originally planned for Chapter 5, featuring Ada Wong facing off against the Cloaked Figure, also known as Pesanta or U-3.
Keff0 discovered data and assets left behind from this battle within the expansion's files. Based on these, he completed the battle design, lighting, sound effects, visual effects, music, and ending cutscene, restoring content that was not included in the final release.
According to leftover materials, this battle was originally set in an outdoor courtyard after the castle garden, taking place before Ada heads to the mine. The files also retain an opening cutscene: Pesanta blocks Ada's path near the north gate, initiating the fight.
Related data also shows that this boss fight consists of three phases. The enemy's behavior changes when its health drops to 70% and 30%, with different stagger parameters set for each phase, reflecting the early design intent of gradually increasing combat difficulty.
In the final version of "Separate Ways," Ada encounters the Cloaked Figure several times before the two-phase main battle in the mine. Developers have not provided an official explanation for why the additional castle battle was cut; one speculation suggests the adjustment was made to avoid making the boss appear too frequently and to maintain narrative pacing.
This mod does not design a new battle from scratch but restores it based on hidden data found in the game files. It is approximately 209MB in size and is now available for download; this is not Keff0's first time restoring cut content from the game.
