Kit Harington, best known for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, stated that he isn't much of a video game enthusiast. However, the promotional campaign for GTA VI successfully piqued his interest, making him consider trying out Rockstar's latest title.
In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz, Harrington discussed his gaming experiences. He admitted to knowing very little about the Silent Hill series, despite having starred in the film Silent Hill: Revelation. Among the games he could recall were Tekken, Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, and the more recent Hogwarts Legacy.
When discussing the GTA series, Harrington admitted that he hadn't played much of it in the past, but the promotion for GTA VI has caught his attention. He also enjoys watching videos where people recreate the series' typical scenes and gameplay in real life.
Rockstar is currently heavily promoting GTA VI, investing significant funds into marketing. The company has enlisted multiple musicians to create original soundtrack tracks and even installed a "Welcome to Vice City" sign in Miami, with related expenses approaching $1 million.
The game has also sparked discussion among sports figures. NBA star Steven Adams previously joked that after the release of GTA VI, the level of play in the league might noticeably decline as players and coaches become preoccupied with the game.
Harrington has not confirmed whether he will actually play GTA VI upon its release. However, he is no stranger to the gaming industry: he portrayed the main antagonist in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and provided voice work for Jon Snow in Telltale Games' adaptation of Game of Thrones.
Harrington is also set to appear as Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series. His recent experience with Hogwarts Legacy may be connected to this new role.
