In a recent public interview, Musk gave his own assessment, stating that within approximately two to three years, China will be able to fill the current computing power supply gap by relying on independent and controllable lithography technology and full-chain chip manufacturing capabilities.
In a recent exclusive interview with CCTV Finance, Musk also mentioned that China's domestic large AI model technology demonstrates excellent overall completeness. In terms of actual performance per unit of computing power, it is nearly at the top tier globally.
He further explained that he believes China will resolve its computing power supply issues faster than most overseas industry practitioners expect. He offered a rough prediction that within two to three years, China will be able to completely fill the current computing power gap by relying on breakthroughs in independent lithography technology and a mature chip manufacturing system.
At the All-In Tech Summit held earlier, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang also responded to related questions raised by the host. When asked when China would be able to independently develop advanced lithography machines, Huang predicted that China would have fully self-developed advanced lithography systems by around 2030.
Huang also added that once relevant core technologies achieve breakthroughs and reach maturity, Chinese domestic enterprises will unleash extremely strong mass production capabilities. It is only a matter of time before these domestically produced semiconductor manufacturing equipment are implemented on a large scale in local wafer fabs.
The similar judgments made successively by the leaders of two global tech giants indirectly confirm that the pace of domestic independent R&D across the entire semiconductor chain far exceeds previous external expectations. Breakthroughs in various technologies, from lithography equipment to mature process chip manufacturing, are gradually forming a combined force, ultimately building a solid computing power foundation for the healthy development of the AI industry.
