On October 21, Unfold Games announced that "Crimson Hell Hotel" has been delayed until its 2027 release on Steam. The early access launch originally scheduled for late 2026 has been canceled, and the game will instead be released as a fully-featured complete version.
The title was first revealed in 2022, with initial development primarily funded by revenue from the studio's previous game, "DARQ." The team had planned to secure further funding through early access, but after the publisher provided additional investment, the development model was adjusted. The team will now continue to refine the content before delivering the complete version in one go.
In the game, players take on the role of a vampire who awakens after centuries of slumber, transforming a dilapidated former mansion into a hotel. Management tasks include cleaning and repairs, interior decoration, unlocking rooms and facilities, as well as growing vegetables, cooking, crafting items, and raising pets.
Guests have different personalities, preferences, and secrets. Players can earn positive reviews by attending to guests diligently, or sneak into rooms to feed on their blood. However, deceased guests won't pay for their stay, and a string of disappearances may attract vampire hunters.
Beneath the hotel lies a procedurally generated dungeon where players can gather resources for hotel and equipment upgrades through combat and treasure hunting, and craft weapons at the workshop. The game offers six vampire classes, with 270 professional skills and upgrades available. Players can choose stealth, magic, direct combat, or a peaceful route that harms no one.
