Activision's first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has officially launched, offering a story campaign, multiplayer, and an expanded DMZ mode. The campaign continues from the previous entries in the series, with escalating conflicts on the Korean Peninsula and a global crisis looming ever closer.
Players will carry out operations in large-scale battles, stealth missions, and joint combat scenarios. Captain Price, who has left Task Force 141, will also secretly advance his own plans for revenge.
Multiplayer returns to the series' classic realistic combat style, emphasizing more solid and fluid movement, hardcore weapon handling, and a balance between combat pacing and operational feedback. New ballistics mechanics further integrate precise aiming, weapon control, and realistic combat sound effects. The launch lineup includes 12 new 6v6 maps, 4 Gunfight maps, and the "Kill Zone" mode featuring dynamic maps, which reportedly allows for over 500 combinations.
The DMZ mode is set in the River City Exclusion Zone, where players must enter a constantly changing open-world battlefield to gather supplies, complete objectives, fight enemy operators, and extract with loot. Newly added Forward Operating Bases support gear preparation, resource crafting, as well as operator progression and management. This mode also features exclusive progression rewards and PvP bounty hunts for "Hunter" and "Killer" contracts, with resources earned from each operation usable for the next deployment.
