On October 23, 2026, Pokémon announced five "Pokémon Manhole Covers" to be installed in Gunma Prefecture, marking the first time this series has come to the region. The five original designs will be placed in Numata City, Tatebayashi City, Shibukawa City, Shimoniita Town, and Naganoara Town.
The featured Pokémon include Boltund, Zapdos, Sirfetch'd, Shiftry, and Zigzagoon, with each design corresponding to its installation area. Notably, Shimoniita Town highlights its local specialty, Shimoniita green onions, creating a regional connection with designs like Sirfetch'd.
Gunma Prefecture has also released a tour map linking the manhole cover locations with nearby tourist attractions. Listed spots include Yabake Dam, Ikaho Onsen, Fukiware Falls, and Tsutsujigaoka Park, making it easier for visitors to plan their routes around the five manhole covers.
This collaboration is not a game content update but rather an initiative using locally themed permanent public facilities to encourage Pokémon fans to visit various municipalities. Specific installation dates and location details can be found on the relevant pages; visitors planning to take photos or organize themed trips should confirm the official launch times and exact on-site locations.
