"Metro 2033 Redux" and "Metro: Last Light Redux" Updated with DLSS 5 Support!

4A Games has released next-gen updates for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. In addition to removing the frame rate cap and adding various upscaling options, both games now include support for DLSS 5 neural rendering, which was not listed in the official patch notes.

This update adds support for 4A TSR, NVIDIA DLSS, and AMD FSR, while also enhancing geometric and texture details, PBR materials, animations, and audio quality. The patch also introduces screen-space global illumination, 4K textures, spatial audio, as well as support for DualSense adaptive triggers and Xbox impulse triggers.

Comparison screenshots released by DSO Gaming show that enabling DLSS 5 neural rendering significantly improves the appearance of character faces. Both John Papadopoulos and video creator EZ noted that changes to the environment are relatively subtle and usually require side-by-side static image comparisons to spot. Developers may have selectively applied this technology to enhance the weaker facial models in the older titles, but this is merely media speculation and has not been confirmed by 4A Games.

Enabling this feature will cause a noticeable performance hit, though the two older titles can still run at high frame rates after receiving the update. It remains unclear whether Metro 2039, scheduled for release on February 4, 2027, will support DLSS 5, as the preview build previously available for testing did not include this feature.
