Archetype has revealed an updated character model for Jun Aslan, the protagonist of The Great EXODUS™. The new version adjusts facial features that were criticized by some players, and also allows players to customize their character's hairstyle, hair color, facial hair, and tattoos.
The previously shown model drew criticism for its elongated face, small eyes, and unnatural, plastic-surgery-like cheeks. The new model tones down these previously rigid facial features, making Jun appear younger and somewhat reminiscent of Leon's younger brother from Resident Evil.
Feedback on Reddit has been largely positive, with players noting significant improvements to the new facial structure. Some players disliked the default hairstyle, but found it acceptable since the game allows for customization. Jun Aslan can be played as either male or female; the new look for the female version has not yet been revealed, with Archetype stating that related showcases are still in preparation.
The Great EXODUS™ is a space RPG influenced by Mass Effect, with developers such as Drew Karpyshyn, the lead writer of Mass Effect, on the team. Players take on the role of a starship captain exploring various alien worlds, making choices in branching dialogues that significantly impact the world, and managing relationships with their crew.
The Great EXODUS™ emphasizes dark storytelling and the consequences of player choices, and is scheduled to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on April 7, 2027.
