Multiple consumers reported that their pre-orders for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time-themed Switch 2 consoles via Walmart were canceled the day before the scheduled delivery, with the system citing "out of stock" as the reason. Receiving cancellation emails so close to the fulfillment date has sparked strong dissatisfaction among buyers.
One consumer stated on Reddit that the cancellation caused them to miss the opportunity to purchase this limited-edition item from other retailers. Another buyer, after contacting Walmart customer service, reported that the issue was explained as pre-order quantities exceeding actual inventory, and they were simply among the customers who did not receive stock.
At the time, Walmart's self-operated page still showed the console as out of stock, but listings around $700 appeared on the platform simultaneously, nearly $200 more than the bundle originally pre-ordered by affected buyers. These higher prices likely came from third-party sellers using the Walmart marketplace; current information does not prove that Walmart raised prices and resold the items after canceling orders.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled for release on November 5. Affected buyers currently have no choice but to seek other purchasing channels.
