Microsoft released the October system update for Xbox Series X|S on October 28, 2026, with system version 10.0.26100.9647. This update introduces "Mythic Achievements," increases the maximum resolution for Remote Play to 1440p, and improves storage management and performance for large game libraries.
Players earn a "Mythic Achievement" after unlocking all base achievements for a game, without needing to complete additional achievements from DLC or subsequent updates. The Gaming section of the profile displays the number of completed games, and the achievement list shows current progress. Games can be sorted by name, completion percentage, Gamerscore, or the number of unlocked achievements.
Profile badges now feature higher-resolution images and include details such as the date and method of acquisition. Users can display up to five badges and hide specific ones. Remote Play has increased video bitrate, supporting up to 1440p, though actual performance depends on the receiving device and network conditions. Microsoft recommends setting the console output to 1440p or 4K UHD.
The update also adds options for startup animations, local search, organization and deletion of idle local saves, removal of items from the recent list on the home screen, and temporary hiding of interface background displays. Cloud gaming titles can appear in the game library and run concurrently with background downloads when network conditions allow. The patch also fixes issues such as black screens on startup, repeated refreshing of the home screen, and downloads appearing to stop, while reducing memory usage and improving performance for large game libraries.
