More than four years after the release of Elden Ring, data miners discovered the TalkParam technical table in service files left over from a recent internal update. The file revealed several characters deleted from the final version and completed dialogue content that previously existed only as scattered audio clips.
TalkParam stores subtitle texts and script markers for voice-over dialogues. Researchers used this to complete some lines for Merchant Kalé and Yura, Hunter of Bloody Fingers, and discovered four fully deleted characters, including Ivann, a former Knight of Leyndell who tracked the "Bloodfiend"; Gott, a clergyman whose motives echoed those of another cancelled NPC, Riko; an unnamed sorcerer who tasked the player with finding rare magical relics; and a wandering blacksmith who would relocate his camp as the Tarnished cleared out the Lands Between.
The files also present different story arcs that were once designed for existing characters. White Mask Varré might have originally bypassed Melina to directly invite the player to the Roundtable Hold; Jerren of Redmane Castle would have shared more about Radahn's past battles after the player obtained specific quest items.
Researchers have compiled the relevant dialogue into a summary table. However, these contents are all discarded concepts from the development phase and should not be considered as plans for future updates, DLC, or content restoration.
